Khristian A. Howell Color + Pattern

The inspiration for Moroccan Mirage began with the beauty of Moroccan tiles. I started with the concept of the tile print, and then began building a tension and juxtaposition between the structured and geometric and the organic. In a nutshell, this is part of the beauty of ethnic prints. There is always an homage to the symmetry that naturally occurs in nature, but often it is executed in an imperfect and organic way.

The blue colorway, Casablanca, was inspired by rich indigos. I love the paring of this deep saturated blue with the super modern mustard of the moment. It lends itself well to unisex projects. The red colorway, Marrakech, is inspired by the color rich spices of the Souks.
