After staying at an AirBnB recently, Mary Beth of Pink Light Studio and I stalked the host until he happy gave us the scoop on what made his bed so incredible: the sheets! With sustainable and affordable companies popping up like Brooklinen and Casper, you won't have to go to a 5 star hotel to sleep like a queen.
I know, I know. I've mentioned this a billion times and I'll keep saying it again and again because it's true: smartphones are seriously sucking the life force out of us. Turn it off. Raise your head. Get it out of the bedroom and d-e-t-a-c-h your claw hand from your tech. Arianna Huffington is doing it, and so can you.
I have a couple rules that I live by and here's one of them: everything needs to be on a dimmer. Second to moody dim lights, I always keep a huge pack of tea lights on hand. You could say that I light a slightly obscene amount of tea lights at night. The are great because if I happen to fall asleep, they will burn out in a reasonable amount of time and not, you know, burn the house down.
CATER TO YOUR SENSES
Don't underestimate the power of scent. Much like the warm and fuzzy feelings brought on by an oven full of cookies, diffusing a room or spraying your bed linens with essential oils can soothe your body, release tension, and relax your mind. I especially love my pillow mist from L'Occitane.
